Hello! We have enclosed a lot of information to answer questions you might have about our wedding. If you have any other questions, please feel free to give us a call (contact numbers below). There are copies of all this material and more on our web site: http://www.buckyandjim.com/net/wedding/ The wedding is at 2 PM, at Cambridge Friends Meeting at 5 Longfellow Park in Cambridge. On-street parking is very tight near Harvard Square, especially on the day of a home football game. So, on the enclosed map, we have marked the closest parking lots with a P. The lot on Church Street costs $20 for the day and the others about $12. We have also marked the various exits from the Harvard Square subway station with T's. The wedding will be under the care of the Quaker Meeting of which Jim is a member. The ceremony will take about an hour, or perhaps longer, and then everyone attending will be asked to sign the wedding certificate. (Below you will find more information about Quaker weddings.) Childcare will be available during the wedding. Please let us know in advance if you will need this. After the wedding, there will be a reception in the Parish Hall of Christ Church, Cambridge starting at 3:30 PM. We will be serving hors d'oeuvres and cake, and you might want to wear (or bring) danceable shoes, as we will have a DJ for country-western dancing (two-step, swing and waltz). There will be a lesson for those of you who would like to learn to two-step at about 4:30. The reception should wrap up around 7, so folks can go out for a proper dinner. Those of you who are truly adventurous and unfatigueable can join us in Jamaica Plain for that evening's regularly scheduled contra dance. (This is where we first met.) We are sponsoring the dance that night and planning to attend. (We just aren't 100% sure we will have the energy!) If you'd like to go and will need directions to the contra dance, please let us know. That dance starts at 7:30 and, if you're new to contra dancing, it's a good idea to get there at the beginning. Admission is $8. There are many places for dinner (beyond lots of our hors d'oeuvres) in both Harvard Square and Jamaica Plain. And to top the weekend off (since Monday is a holiday and so many people are in town) we will have an open house at our home in Dorchester on Sunday morning. If you'd like to come to that but don't know the way, please let us know and we will send you the directions. That will start at 11 AM and run until we chase you all home. Some folks have asked if we are "registered" anywhere. We already have a complete household of "things" so we have chosen to register with the Freedom to Marry Coalition (http://www.EqualMarriage.org). We aren't getting married because our Supreme Court said we could, but we are certainly grateful to the Coalition for all the work they have done in securing our right to have our marriage be a legal as well as religious one. There is still an enormous amount of important work that they are doing, and we would be quite honored if you made a donation in recognition of our marriage. We hope to see you all soon to celebrate our happiness!
